Tweaks Cont...

Here are some of the tweaks I'm trying: ## System Cache Size: HKEYLOCALMACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Memory Management and set the value of LargeSystemCache from 0 to 1. ## Internet Explorer Connections HKEYCURRENTUSER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Internet Settings and set [I had to create - scarey] the value of MaxConnectionsPerServer to 20.

Tweaking The Tablet

While I'm still stoke with my TC1000, I'm a little pissed at the performance. I'm not blaming Transmeta for this, but Windows XP. There seems to be heaps of unwanted 'features' placed in XP that just make it a dog to run. The Transmeta Chip is a 1GHz which, even with reduced performance, should run most apps pretty well. And it actually does a good job running most of the apps I've installed. Except when I use the operating systems [Explorer, Control Panel etc], or another M$ specific app [Visual Studio .Net]. That said, I'm sure there are a few M$ apps that run ok. M$ Journal seems to do alright, but I've only used it a little ;) Anyways, I'm going to have to do some tweaking of the OS to try and get some perforamce boost out of it. I'll document what I change for obvious reasons. Worst case is I just reinstall the OS afresh. But how are you suppose to do that with a 'puter that has no CD? This first batch of changes comes from an APC magazine. I know these are the last people I should be trusting with my hardware & software, but remember I work where these guys work, and because of this I know how they work, and trust me, they've just scrapped all this off a site belonging to someone who knows a lot more than them ;)

Kansai Airport

Pretty industrious bunch of workers here. Everything is so clean, all staff are helpful, and there is no problem finding where you have to go. Whether it be to check in or which gate you're suppose to go to, anything is achievable in Japan. I love this place already. It's like living on Vulcan. Everyone is so logical. Intelligence & knowledge rule here [as far as I can tell so far]. It will be interesting to see examples of illogical thought & action. More later as I'm going to be boarding the domestic flight to Sapporo in about 20mins. Woohoo

A Taste Of Things To Come

Sitting here in my hotel room waiting for Powlow to get his act together so we can go and get some breakfast. I'm starving...and I think I'm going to have to just leave him to his re-packing before I faint. After I finish this post, I'm eating. We arrived last night at about 9pm. Kansai Airport rocks. A man made island in the middle of the bay. We found the Hotel Nikko Kansai without much trouble and with the help of some very friendly JAL staff, and of course, the hotel room rocks. . Too hungry to go on. I'll post again later today.
