Holiday Blissout

2002.12.22  ·  General  ·  0 Comments

I have to do some work, lots of work, but I'm too blissed out in holiday mode to give a $#!^. Just letting it all fade away like the bad dream that it is. Still, I have to stay semi alert so I can get myself organised enough to start this trip. Once I'm over there I can slow back down again, start thinking about the future and find some direction for the coming years. Exciting stuff.

The Sunday Effect

2002.12.21  ·  General  ·  0 Comments

It just hasn't happen to me today [yet]. That feeling you get when you wake up on a Sunday, knowing that the day is a holiday, but that the day after is a work day. That feeling freaks me out. So anyways I guess I'm missing it because of the fact that I'm on holidays and don't have to worry about work tomorrow. I wish I could feel like this every Sunday. One day soon.

Futher Thoughts On Tablet PCs

To add to what I've said earlier...they rock. This little sucker is running fine so far. I've installed Bryce 4 and runs like a dream [the same, if not better, that my notebook]. Photoshop 6 seems to do ok, and that's with only 256MB RAM [which will be upgraded to 768MB as soon at the 512MB stick arrives at DJs]. I've also installed Macromedia Dreamweave, just because I'm in two minds as to whether to install Visual Studio .Net or not. I've already made up my mind about MS Office, and the answer is no way. Not unless I really, really have to. Until then, I'll just go with a cut-down version of OpenOffice.org. Anyways, just documenting that everything is cool at present. I'm going to try and install and few other apps tonight, as well as organising modem connections, usb devices and whatever else I can fit in before having to sleep. Woohoo ;)

I picked up the TC1000 today. And so far after spending about an hour on just setting things up, I'm really, really pleased. I think I now know what they mean by performance hit, because there seems to be something strange at moments, but it's early days yet. And besides, this thing rocks. I'm one mf happy camper today.

I'm going to be giving birth to r0nin.org in the next few days. Since there's no work to think about [not really true as I have to schedule in the AIM homeowork] I'm going to punch through a few days of development, configure my virtual server, and create my 1st Post ;)

Rancho Relaxo

Spent a couple of hours this morning cleaning the apartment. I've got it down now so it's easy. Then went shopping, but it was too damn hot. I had to cut it short and only ended up doing some food shopping in chinatown. Might have to do a few lunchtime shops this week to get ready for the trip. From 2pm 'til 6pm I pretty much veged on the couch. I did however make another life/career decision, which was to learn another language. That's putting it simply of course. There's a bit more to it than just that. Now I've booted up the workstation and have gone straight to deepthought. Which is good, I need to change/add-to the authentication routines.

Comments'R'Go

Comments are working now. Only on the very basic of levels, but it's started now & tidying it up will be the easy part. The infrastructure's in place, that's the hardest and most important part...except if I have to change it later :(

Rain

2002.12.12  ·  General  ·  0 Comments

Finally, after I can't remember how many months, we've received a full day of rain. And maybe a full night the way things are looking. It hasn't been heavy all day, but there have been moments of thick, heavy droplets. It's quite cool as well, which is a little weird actually, because Sydney is usually humid, summer showers usually take place in relative warmth, no matter how long the rain lasts. But tonight is quite chilly. Weird, but cool. Still, we'll need this sort of rain for about 2 months straight to make up for the backlog. Not a pretty thought.

Bag Lust

2002.12.09  ·  General  ·  0 Comments

I dumped half of work today. Ended up shopping for a travel back pack. One shop, a cute sales assistant & $450 later & I have myself a new macpac^(TM). Not too bad either. Should last me forever, and looks & feels like it will wear in nicely. Went for the darkest colour they had and got black & slate. Heaps of pockets, a day pack. I expect there to be more room inside, but it could just be how it looks. I'll be testing it out in just over 3 weeks [horay], so I'll have to report back on how it performs. For some strange reason, I really like bags.

Short Term Memory Loss

O...the reason I started the last post was to document that from this day until my holidays, I can pretty much take it easy. A couple of meetings left no doubt, and 2 new [small] applications to build, and I'm away. And I get a new puter to explorer and setup. And I have a new virtual server to explorer and setup. Life's good.

I forgot to mention that one of the deciding factors for me getting another puter was the fact that I have to push myself into the wireless subculture that's rising every second. Lots of interesting things going on there, and I want to be in the thick of it. The TC1000 comes with 802.11b wireless networking included. Yummy.

2002/2003 Ashes Decided

Australia Just won the 3rd Test @ the WACA. Alex Tudor retired hurt after he was sconned in the head by Brett Lee. Alex Stewart was not out on 64[?]. It was one of the earliest Ashes decisions in history.

These userfriendly URLs, which I haven't even gotten working yet [on the apache side of things] are causing me grief. Bit of an over bitch there...it's late at night :|

Listing Posts

Ok, so I've just hacked up a quick listing of Posts. Liza Manelli is on the David Letterman [?] show. She is ancient. Face wrapped so tight she has troubled turning her head. At least she admits that she's still a pisshead. Someone like that with so much support and so many resources, and she still wants to kill herself. Poeple are weird. She trying to act as young & full of life as ever. Women are strange like that. People are strange like that. Generalizations like that will be the end of me. Posts can now be listed.
